Once again, it’s time for our annual Forks of Salmon Century in beautiful Siskiyou County. The campground we’ve used in the past is not available this year, so we’ve reserved group campsite B in Nordheimer Campground for Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3. There is no potable water there so bring what you’ll need with you.
We’ll meet at Forks of Salmon Post Office on Saturday morning. The ride will leave almost promptly at 8:00 a.m. This is a big ride; it’s a couple miles shy of 100, and climbing is close to 10,000 feet. On the plus side, the road surfaces on this route are amazingly smooth. Temperatures are forecast in the low nineties at Forks of Salmon. Please plan accordingly.
As always, we will have a SAG wagon stocked with water, fresh fruit, bagels, and coffee, but you must be self sufficient as well. Also, there are places to get water and food along the route in Etna, Callahan, and Cecilville.
After the ride we’ll retreat to Nordheimer to refuel our bodies with food and libations.
